The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church

The message of the Synod of Bishops is now available. You can find an English copy of the final document (not official, since the official one is in Latin) here. The document is entitled "The Word of God In The Life and Mission of the Church". This is a copy of the one found at ScriptureSynod.COM.

Synod on the Word of God

The Synod on the Word of God is underway.  It started on October 5 and will continue until the 26th of the month.  The attendance for the Synod is quite impressive.  H2O News provides the following figures:

Pontifical Biblical Institute: 100 Years

Maybe I should now apply for a sabbatical in 2009. The Pontifical Biblical Institute will be celebrating its centenary that year and I think some of the activities will be interesting. I received a letter announcing the event just this morning when I went to my parents' place in Antipolo. R. P. Stephen Pisano, S. J. who was my professor in Textual Criticism is now the Rector of the Institute and the one in charge of Alumni Affairs signed the letter. He writes:

"Guide to the Lectio" Released

Merry Christmas!

Guide "Guide to the Lectio", a project I announced about five months ago is finished. You may now download it from AngFrayle.

Otium Sactum is Back!

System AdvisoryUpdate:

At around 11:54 PM August 4, I read an email sent to me by the Administrator of Otium Sanctum's website. It read:

We appologies (sic!) for this unfortunate mishap! Please change the namservers for both your domain names to the follow immidiately and your website will be online and active: Primary: ns1.***.com Secondary: ns2.***.com The reason for this issue was an upgrade in the server which forced an IP change.

Advisory: Otium Sanctum Data -- Wiped Out

System AdvisoryUpdate:

Below is the response of the Webhosting Administrator to my query about albertesmeralda.com not having its content:

We had to re-create your hosting accounts on another server as the troubles we were having were because of a problem with the server being down. Please note that your old accounts are still there we simply re-created them on another server. If for some reason you cannot re-upload you webiste files onto your new accounts then we will remove them once the old server issues are corrected and all is back online. Thank you for your understanding, as this is a very inconvenient situation for all us and all included. Please let us know if you would prefer not to use the new accounts and we will let you know as soon as the server is back online.

In otherwords, the hosting service is having a problem with the server where biblista.albertesmeralda.com resides and it will be back once they have fixed the problem.

In the meantime, however, please go to Lectio Divina for new articles on the Mass readings. I don't know how long the down-time will last. Let us however pray that all goes well. (A "server problem" can take several days.)

With the recovery of the old Bible Notes, some of the more interesting pages I have found on the web these past two years are once more readily accessible through the links I have posted. Below are some of the more important:

Take The Bible Quiz

Screenshots Of The Bible Quiz

Test your knowledge of the Bible! Smiling

Our Bible Quiz is composed of two sets of ten questions that were meant for first year college students in a Catholic school. The first set of questions are about the Bible in general, stuff that are normally taught first, and covers topics such as canon and inspiration. The second set of questions are for more advanced students who have read at least 35% of the whole Bible. This second test can be accessed only if one gets seven or more correct answers in the first one.

Try your Bible savvy with our quiz. It is simple and fun! Laughing out loud Tell us how you fared with the quizzes by posting a reply to this blog.

This Week's Gospel Readings At Otium Sanctum

Since Otium Sanctum's RDF file cannot be parsed by this website, I am announcing updates there through this blog. I have recently restarted posting expositions of the daily gospel at AgustinongPinoy's Lectio Divina site. The most recent entries are the following:
