The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church

The message of the Synod of Bishops is now available. You can find an English copy of the final document (not official, since the official one is in Latin) here. The document is entitled "The Word of God In The Life and Mission of the Church". This is a copy of the one found at ScriptureSynod.COM. The commission that finalized the draft and had it presented for final approval was headed by Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, an eminent member of the Associazione Biblica Italiana before becoming a prelate.

The document is divided into four parts, namely, (a)The Voice of the Word: Revelation, (b)The Face of the Word: Jesus Christ, (c)The House of the Word: the Church,(d) The Roads of the Word: the Mission. The document is crafted as a letter and is described as a "passionate" appeal.

I haven't read it fully yet since I just discovered it about an hour ago. It is a shorter version of the first draft of the document which was warmly received some days ago. Card. Ravasi reveals in an interview with RadioVaticana.ORG that there were bishops who asked him to retain the draft and modify it in a few places. Together with the publication of this synodal message, there will be an accompanying two-page summary that will be distributed to the parishes. Card. Ravasi was also the one who prepared a draft of this synthesis and had it presented to the Synod.

A PDF formatted copy is provided here for those interested.
