(Corpus Christi -- C) Really and Truly With Us

The Lord is truly and really present in the midst of His Church. He makes Himself present as food and drink. He makes Himself present as the Hidden Lord who dwells in the midst of men and women. Read the following articles and use the rest of this page as a guide for reflection:

1. The feast of the Body and Blood of Christ puts before us the Real Presence of the Lord. He continues to be present in the midst of His Church in the Eucharistic species of the Bread and Wine. And He is really present on the altar as He gives Himself as food for our salvation.

Reflect. The Lord is truly present for you in the Eucharist. How are you present to Him? The Lord continues to give Himself to you really everyday at Mass. How do you give yourself to Him?

2. In the Eucharistic celebration, the Lord gives us Himself as food and drink. "For my flesh is real food, and my blood is real drink" (John 6:55)

Reflect: The Lord offers you Himself as food during the Eucharistic. How do you prepare yourself for this encounter with Him? As a minimum, the Church prescribes a fasting of one hour. Do you practise this minimum requirement?

3. "I will be with you always until the end of time. (Matt. 28:20)" The Lord said this to his apostles as a promise that He fulfills everyday. He is really and truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.

Reflect. The candle burning in the altar is a sign that the Lord is in. Do you visit Him in the Blessed Sacrament? Do you speak with Him, knowing that He is there for you?
