On March 4, 2007 I gave a talk to a group of Gawad Kalinga recipients of the Couples for Christ. The topic of the talk is "Faith and Repentance" and is one of the modules for the CFC Formation Program. The talk was in Filipino and is available for download here. The file is in PDF format and is readable only through the Adobe Acrobat Reader which can be downloaded for free at Adobe.Com
The talk has the following outline:
- A Clarification of Terms
- The terms "faith" and "repentance" are explained as these are used in the Gospels with a special focus on the meaning of Mark 1:15 today.
- An Illustration Using The Eye-Ear/Heart/Hand Metaphor
- The "eye-ear/heart/hand" is the framework I have been using since the year 2000 to show how a person's world-view, life-project and life-style are affected by faith. In the context of the talk, it is the illustration I use to show how a response in faith must lead necessarily to a change in values and life-style (repentance)
- Three Examples
- I make use of three narrative examples to show how faith leads to repentance: the story of Naaman the leper, the two disciples on the way to Emmaus and the Conversion of St. Paul.
